Over at Intel-Dump, there's an excellent write-up on how (a) the War on Terror is not only a stupid name, it inflates Al Qeida's status and gives them more power and clout than dealing with them as terrorists, and (b) equating the War on Terror to the days leading up to WWII is just stupid.
Which is one of my biggest issues w/ the Shrubbery Administration - it's based on stupidity, fear mongering, lies and limiting the publics access to knowledge.
Now that the Dem's have control of the US Congress, we'll see if they stand-up and start trying to steer this nation back to a path of reason and fact, or if they just act like politicians. Not going to hold my breath on that one.

hi johnnyb, just thought i'd let you know there are some of us in the uk who aren't too enamoured with the way messrs bush and particularly blair have been fracking (if i understand you correctly) up the world either. i say particularly blair because, although george w (the w stands for what by the way?) has been calling the shots our little poodle has been licking his .... hand all the way. no doubt such sycophantic fawning has made georgie boy feel loved and secure and more ready than he otherwise would have been to order the wholesale shooting up of another sovereign state. including the inevitable murder of thousands of innocent non-combabtants. ie women and children. he's been an appalling embarassment. more so because he was originally thought to represent left of centre brit politics being, as he is top of the labour party. so at least you knew you had an asshole on the way. we thought we were dealing with someone with integrity. naive i know but thats what a lot of us thought. well i did at least. i could go on. and on. and sometimes do. do i hear the feds pounding at my door? see you in guantanamo.
